Directions to Mount Rushmore National Park

Mount Rushmore is located in Western South Dakota, 23 miles South West of Rapid City on Highway 16.

By Automobile

  • The most direct route is via Interstate – 90.
  • Exit on exit 57 to Highway 16 (also called Mount Rushmore Road) which goes directly to Keystone.
  • From Keystone take Highway 244 to the Mount Rushmore Memorial entrance.

Note: Visitors coming from the South should take Highway 385 North through Hot Springs and Custer to Highway 244, which is the road leading to Mount Rushmore.
