Spring/Autumn
May and June are the two wettest months of the year. In late May and early June fog can obscure the view of Mount Rushmore for part of the day. Autumn and spring can be very short seasons between winter and summer.
Summer
The average summer day is warm and sunny with a chance of afternoon thunderstorms.
Winter
During the winter snow storms occur but the snow usually melts within a couple of days. The Black Hills are often warmer than Rapid City and the surrounding plains in the winter because of temperature inversions. For Black Hills area road information call (605) 673-4948 or #511 on your cell phone.
